All too often families are presented with
the same solution to address the unique circumstances
of their own personal situation. There is a great deal
of information about planning for "when you are gone"
or "who will care for them when you die". The use of a
Special Needs Trust and funding it with life insurance
is only one solution. Realizing this, it is important
to develop workshops to educate and address the issues
that families face at different points in their lifetime.
Five Workshops
We have created five focused workshops to
address the various planning pressure points based on
the age of the child.
This is our signature presentation that
provides a general overview and timeline of the various
planning pressure points where parents should be aware
of changes in the child's benefits and legal and financial
issues. The primary focus is to help parents avoid common
mistakes and pitfalls in their own planning. A good general
overview and introduction to the unique planning needs
of our families.
Preparing The Letter of Intent
Suggested Audience: Parents, Grandparents, Siblings, Guardians,
Caretakers & Future Caretakers of children of all ages
and all levels of ability
This workshop was developed based on requests
from families to help understand the importance of the
Letter of Intent - the format to communicate information
along with your desires and concerns for your child to
future caretakers. This is a hands-on workshop to complete
the Letter of Intent.
Early Intervention Planning
Suggested Audience: Parents, Grandparents & Caretakers
of children ages 0-3
This workshop will provide an introduction
to the basic planning concepts and help families to understand
how to deal with the unique challenges they face as the
caretakers of very young children. Our focus is to help
families adjust and revise their goals, expectations and
planning needs for the child.
Transition Planning
Suggested Audience: Parents, Grandparents and
Caretakers of adolescents to adulthood
This workshop will provide an understanding
of Guardianship, eligibility for Government Benefits,
College Planning, and beginning to identify various Residential
options after age 22 (or some states age 21). Focus is
to increase awareness of planning options and considerations.
Residential Planning
Suggested Audience: Parents, Grandparents & Caretakers
of
adult children (parents of adolescent children encouraged
to attend)
This workshop will primarily focus on the
various residential models based on the "public-private
partnership" concept. We will address issues of the estimated
costs of residential models and how a family can afford
to co-pay for the model. The model(s) can be one(s) that
the agency offers or general information on various models
that have been created. Discussion of maintaining eligibility
for Government Benefits and parent's own Retirement and
Estate Planning are incorporated.
Please Note: All presentations are geared
to be informative and engaging. Our approach is highly
interactive and personalized according to the interests
and concerns of the group. We encourage questions and
we attempt to provide information applicable to all. Since
every family situation is unique, we offer individual
consultations by appointment to privately address personal
concerns and circumstances.
